Custom Metrics

Add and combine metrics to create powerful, customized views of your analytics

Need a specific metric but not seeing it in Metrics for News yet? Take advantage of our simple yet powerful custom metrics tool. The tool offers the ability to create your own metrics to build the exact dashboards you need. You can even combine metrics and add calculations to customize further.

    1. Name
    2. Definition
    3. Data Source
      1. Select from where the data will come. Depending on which option you select, additional fields may appear.
    4. Type
      1. Select the type of metric this will be. Depending on which option you select, additional fields may appear.
    5. Is this a time-based metric?
      1. If you select yes, choose from the options on how the time is measured.
      2. In your data source (e.g., spreadsheet), use any standard time format (e.g., 2 minutes 38 seconds = "2.38" or "2:38"). Ensure the format is used consistently all the way down the column.
  1. Click "Save Metric."
  2. Return to the Custom metrics page. You can see the metric you just created in the list.

To view the custom metrics you have created, you must have data imported into them via a custom import. Then, once data is imported, pull the metrics in a custom report by selecting them from the custom metrics section.  You can also set them as a featured metric in your dashboard.
