Integrating Adobe Analytics

Metrics for News has the ability to connect with your Adobe Analytics account to help you analyze story metrics. Please follow these steps below to configure the level of access for Metrics for News.

Obtain Access Credentials

Before using the instructions below, make sure you’ve received a CRT file from your Metrics for News representative. This file is required in Step 5 below.
  1. Visit the Projects page on the Adobe Developer Console: developer.adobe.com/console/projects. You will need to first sign in to the Console with your Adobe ID account.

  2. Choose an existing Project or the button to create a Project. If creating a Project, we recommend including “Metrics for News” or “MFN” in the title or description of the Project to help you and other staff remember the purpose of this project.

  3. Click “Add API” to create a new integration for this Project.

  5. In the next step for “Choose type of authentication you need,” select the “Service Account” option then click the “Next” button.

  6. In the next step for “Create a new service account credential,” select “Upload your public key” option and upload the CRT file provided by your Metrics for News representative. After uploading the file, click “Next” to proceed to the next step.

  7. In the next step for “Select product profiles,” select “API Access” or the top-most checkbox to select all profiles available if “API Access” isn’t an option. Click “Saved configured API” after making the selection.

  8. If saved successfully, the following page will include a summary of the new API integration for your Project. Metrics for News will need some details on this page to connect with the integration. Scroll down the page until you see the “Service Account: Credentials” section with various IDs listed (Note: These are private credentials. Do not share them externally unless approved by your company). Copy the following credentials into a separate document, these will need to be shared with your Metrics for News representative.
    1. Client ID
    2. Click Secret
    3. Technical Account ID
    4. Technical Account Email
    5. Organization ID

  9. Your Adobe “Company ID” is the next detail to find. First, go to the Adobe Analytics APIs page (adobedocs.github.io/analytics-2.0-apis/#/users/getCurrentUser). Note: If not already logged in, click the “Login” button at the middle-top of the page. Sign in with your Adobe ID.
    1. Scroll down to the “Users” section and click the title to expand that section.
    2. Click on the option that says “/users/me Get the current user” to expand that subsection.
    3. Within the expanded subsection, click the “Try It Out” button, then click the “Execute” button that appears.
    4. Results will be displayed on the page, including a “Request URL” area that reads “https://analytics.adobe.io/api/COMPANYID/users/me”. Copy this Company ID or entire URL and add it to the list of credentials you copied in the last step.

Send Credentials to Metrics for News

Your credentials document should now have:

    • The five credentials in Step 8, and
    • The company ID or URL in Step 9

Please email these details to your Metrics for News representative who will use that information to complete your Adobe Analytics integration.
